Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)
Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat uterine fibroids, noncancerous growths in the uterus that can cause pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, and other symptoms. During UFE, a catheter is guided into the uterine arteries, and small particles or embolic agents are injected to block blood flow to the fibroids. This causes them to shrink and alleviates symptoms. UFE is an alternative to surgery, such as hysterectomy, and offers a quicker recovery time and fewer complications. It is typically performed by interventional radiologists and can provide effective relief for fibroid-related issues.
