Bronchial Artery Embolization (BAE)
Bronchial Artery Embolization (BAE) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat conditions like massive hemoptysis (severe lung bleeding) or certain lung tumors. During BAE, a catheter is guided into the bronchial arteries supplying blood to the lungs. Tiny particles or embolic agents are injected to block these arteries, reducing blood flow and controlling bleeding. BAE can be a life-saving intervention and may prevent the need for surgery. It is typically performed by interventional radiologists and is an effective approach to manage severe lung-related issues.
