AV Fistuloplasty

An AV Fistuloplasty is a medical procedure performed to restore or improve the function of an arteriovenous (AV) fistula. An AV fistula is a surgically created connection between an artery and a vein, typically in the arm, used for hemodialysis in patients with kidney failure. Over time, these fistulas can narrow or become blocked, limiting blood flow and hindering dialysis. During a fistuloplasty, a catheter with a balloon is inserted into the narrowed area, and the balloon is inflated to widen the vessel. This procedure aims to maintain adequate blood flow for successful dialysis, reducing complications and improving patient outcomes.
